Three ways to remove hair, three very different experiences. Here is the honest comparison for Kampala prices and Kampala skin, which bumps and darkens more easily than the skin these products were designed for.
The comparison
| Method | Cost per month | Pain | Regrowth | Ingrown risk |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shaving | UGX 5,000 to 15,000 | None | 1 to 3 days | High on coarse hair |
| Cream | UGX 15,000 to 30,000 | None if used right | 5 to 10 days | Low |
| Waxing at a salon | UGX 40,000 to 120,000 | Yes | 3 to 5 weeks | Medium, lower over time |
Why creams suit darker skin
Shaving cuts hair at an angle just under the skin, and coarse curly hair grows back into it, causing the bumps and the dark marks they leave. Cream dissolves the hair at skin level with a smooth end, so regrowth is softer and grows out, not in. For underarms, bikini line and legs on skin that scars, cream is the kinder option. Our hair removal cream is UGX 30,000 for a tube that lasts a month or two.
Using a cream without a burn
- Patch test on the inside of the arm, 24 hours before. Non-negotiable the first time.
- Cool, dry skin. Not after a hot shower; heat opens the skin and the cream stings.
- A thick layer that covers the hair, not rubbed in.
- Time it. Five to eight minutes for the body, never more than ten. The cream is working on skin as well as hair; leaving it "to be sure" is how burns happen.
- Remove with the spatula, then rinse with cool water. No soap, no deodorant, no perfume for 24 hours.
Where not to use it
Not on the face unless the tube says so, not on broken or sunburnt skin, not on the genitals themselves (bikini line only), and not on the same area more than once in three days.
Whichever you choose
Exfoliate gently twice a week and moisturise daily. That halves ingrown hairs for all three methods. Creams are delivered across Uganda from the personal beauty range, plain parcel, pay on delivery in Kampala.
