Lash and brow serums are the most re-ordered beauty product we stock, which tells you they work. They are also the one people judge too early. Lashes grow on a cycle, and the cycle is slow.
Two kinds
Conditioning serums use peptides, biotin, castor oil and vitamins. They strengthen lashes so fewer fall out and each one grows to its full length. Safe, gentle, and the type we sell at UGX 20,000. Prostaglandin serums (the prescription-style ones) push the growth phase longer and give dramatic length, but can darken the eyelid skin and, rarely, the iris. If a serum promises dramatic results in three weeks, ask what is in it.
Timeline
- Weeks 1 to 3: nothing visible. Lashes already growing finish their cycle.
- Weeks 4 to 6: fewer lashes on the pillow and in the mascara wand.
- Weeks 8 to 12: visibly longer and fuller, especially the outer corners. Brows fill gaps.
- After 12 weeks: maintain with three applications a week; stop entirely and lashes return to baseline in about two months.
How to apply
- Clean, dry face, no mascara or makeup remover residue.
- One thin line along the upper lash line, like eyeliner, where the lashes meet the lid. That is where the follicle is. Coating the lashes themselves does nothing.
- Brows: a thin line through the sparse area and a quick brush through.
- Once a night. More is not faster, and extra product runs into the eye.
If your eyes sting
Stinging on application means too much product or product in the eye. Use less. Redness that lasts, itching or swelling means stop and rinse; some people react to biotin or to a preservative, and a different formula usually solves it.
What speeds it up
Stop rubbing your eyes, take mascara off gently with oil, and rest from lash extensions for a cycle. Extensions pull out more lashes than any serum can grow.
