Delivery Times to Gulu, Mbarara and Jinja: The Honest Timeline

Kampala gets a rider in 1 to 3 days. Everywhere else in Uganda goes by courier, and "3 to 7 business days" is the honest figure. Here is where those days go.

Day by day

  • Day 0, order placed. Upcountry orders are paid in full up front, by Mobile Money or card, because the courier does not collect cash for us. Payment confirms within minutes.
  • Day 0 to 1, packed. Plain box or bag, neutral sender name. Orders placed before 2 pm usually leave the same day.
  • Day 1 to 2, to the courier. The parcel goes to the courier's Kampala depot and onto the next bus or van for your route. Major routes (Jinja, Mbarara, Mbale, Gulu, Lira, Arua, Fort Portal) run daily; smaller towns twice or three times a week.
  • Day 2 to 5, in transit. Jinja and Mukono often arrive next day. Mbarara, Mbale and Fort Portal two to three days. Gulu, Lira and Arua three to four. Border and island districts up to seven.
  • Arrival. The courier calls the number on the order to collect from their office or, in larger towns, delivers to your door. Keep your phone on; a missed call is the commonest cause of an extra day.

Why not faster

Buses leave once a day. A parcel that misses the morning departure waits for tomorrow's. That single fact is the difference between 3 days and 5. We cannot promise a specific day upcountry, and anyone who does is guessing.

What makes it faster

  1. Order before 2 pm on a weekday.
  2. Give the courier office you prefer in the order notes if you know it; it skips a phone call.
  3. Use the number you actually answer. The courier calls once, then twice, then holds the parcel.

Cost

Wakiso, Mukono, Nansana and Kira are on the Kampala rate card. Everywhere else is a flat upcountry rate shown at checkout before you pay, and on the delivery page district by district: Jinja, Mbarara, Masaka and more.

Tracking

The track page shows the stage your parcel is at with your order number and phone. When a courier tracking number exists, it is there too. And the parcel looks like any other parcel on the bus: plain, sealed, addressed to you.
