A First Toy for Men: Sleeves, Strokers and What to Know

Men's toys get a fraction of the attention women's do, and the questions we get are basic ones nobody answered. Here they are.

Three types

  • Sleeves. A soft textured tube, no motor. Quiet, cheap, and the right first buy. The 3-in-1 sleeve at UGX 58,012 has three textures in one.
  • Vibrating strokers. A sleeve in a case with a motor. Hands-free options exist. UGX 100,000 to 130,000.
  • Thrusting or rotating cups. Motorised movement. The most intense and the loudest; not a first buy. UGX 120,000 to 175,000.

Penis sleeves worn during sex are a separate category, for couples, and are covered in the toys range under "for him".

The lubricant rule

Water-based only. Most sleeves are a soft elastomer (TPE) that silicone lubricant and oils dissolve slowly into a sticky mess. Use plenty; a dry sleeve is unpleasant and wears out fast. A 200 ml bottle lasts months.

Cleaning in a shared bathroom

  1. Rinse inside-out under warm water with plain soap, or use the cup's rinse opening if it has one.
  2. Dry thoroughly. This is the step people skip and the reason sleeves smell after a month. Pat with a towel, then leave it open in a drawer for an hour. Never store it damp.
  3. A light dusting of cornstarch (not talc) keeps TPE from going tacky.

The whole routine takes two minutes and the sleeve looks like a water bottle or a torch in its case. Nobody looks twice.

Sizing

Sleeves stretch. Standard fits most men; if you are well above average in girth, look for "large" in the name, and if you are below, a tighter sleeve gives more sensation. The product pages list the inner length.

Ordering

Plain parcel, neutral sender name, nothing on the receipt. Pay at the door in Kampala with a 20% deposit, or in full by Mobile Money for delivery anywhere in Uganda. The Start here finder has a "for him" path.
